Anyone with CP now have diabetes?

Hello everyone!

I have had HCP for 25 years now and I'm starting the late stage symptoms of diarrhea, less severe pain and vitamin deficiencies. I am concerned that the next to come is diabetes (the little part of my pancreas that is still left is mostly calcified).

My question is have any of you already developed diabetes b/c of CP and what were the symptoms leading up to it? And any other related info is helpful too!

Thanks!

IN THEORY, as the pancreas digests itself, the pain becomes less and less. Again, IN THEORY, the next stage is diabetes. I am currently at stage where my islet cells are starting to struggle as my blood sugars rise, although my pain has not subsided. Your insurance company should pay for a glucose meter at this point so you can monitor your sugars. Also, have an hemoglobin A1C every six months to monitor your sugars that way (your primary doc can order it). Ideally, it should be below 6.

Good luck!
