If trimethylaminuria sufferers can't eat certain foods, then what can we eat? I'm confused on this one as most foods may have choline etc.

Hi,
Sorry, I was travelling for the last days and I also didn't figure out completely how this careplace site is working, so I might answer very late sometimes...
I think I was trying to say all organ meats, like: beef heart, liver and kidneys; chicken heart, liver and kidneys; Turkey heart, liver, kidneys, Veal liver and kidneys; pork liver, kidneys and spleen; lamb shoulder, liver,
kidneys; duck liver and pate products; brain and sweetbreads.
This is what I found on files at the TMAU support group at Yahoo (there is a lot there, scientific papers and also papers written by members with TMAU self-experience), but of course they recommend people to get tested first and then start the diet with the help of a nutritionist.
You will find very much information there and please ask us when needed.
Best wishes,
Irin.

Hi Aggie7
I think it is important to keep the choline level quite low. How low can vary from people to people.. If you look at the choline content in food list available on files at the Yahoo TMAU support group, you can eliminate the foods that have a very high content, as egg yolks and animal organs, and keep the others low. I think you have to experiment to see what is working for you.
